Forgeries of the Future

You gotta strike, strike a new match Start start start start start from scratch Do it all over, do it all over again That’s the way our love burns That’s the way the circle turns That’s the way we re-make the world again There are crimes that we’ll never know There are horrors that continue to grow There’s a darkness / we’ll never see / be-yond / again But you gotta strike, strike a new match Start start start start start from scratch Do it all over, do it all over again This is the target— where’s the dart? This is the transplant—where’s the heart? This is a guess—so don’t expect art It’s not a beginning It’s a start.

I don’t own the words I sing I don’t own anything I tried to make this song my home But it was only mine on loan I know, I know, I know, I know Property is theft and I don’t have anything left To show for this humiliation Property is theft and I just can’t accept This counts as an explanation My heart’s been broke by poverty My art’s an open artery Culture’s a cult of forgery Ownership should be a blasphemy I know, I know, I know, I know Property is theft and the things people have left behind could be a new beginning Property is theft but I just can't protect myself from this final killing But you can’t take my love away from me

King Blank 02:03
There’s nothing then there’s nothing Then there’s nothing then there’s nothing Then there’s nothing then there’s nothing Then there’s nothing then there’s nothing Then there’s… King Blank You’re nothing then you’re nothing Then you’re nothing then you’re nothing Then you’re nothing then you’re nothing Then you’re nothing then you’re nothing One day you’re… King Blank I’m nothing then I’m nothing Then I’m nothing then I’m nothing Then I’m nothing then I’m nothing Then I’m nothing then I’m nothing But I’m never… King Blank That’s a not a void, that’s a blank

about

In the dark days of the pandemic, we had no drummer + no place to rehearse. Reinvention was the only option. We threw away our usual tools + started from scratch.

The songs swap studio atmosphere for cut + paste aesthetics. Guitars for samples + keyboards. Unusual textures + rhythms push the music into fresh territory. Weirder + catchier + more polished.
